In class today we were asked to look through twitter and pick one account that has to do with some kind of media, and analyse it.

The twitter account that I had pick was @factbooks. The reason that I had chosen this account was due to the work that they put into it. The site is basically an online account filled with knowledge, they dig up facts that most people have never even heard of, and post them. Like for instance: (Businesses lose on average $1.5 Billion due to employees playing Angry Bird.) Or: (French Kissing involves all 34 muscles in the face. A pucker kiss involves only two.)

All of these facts that they post are real, and not just random totally made up stuff. I quite enjoy reading them everyday when I wake up, during the day, and even before I hit the hay. The thing that I like the most is that they retweet other people’s tweets too. They don’t just stick with their own. They use the account just to let people know about facts and media stuff that people probably never heard of before. Ya it might be useless, but it’s actually quite neat.

This site makes you think about things in a different way. look at media a different way, and also to give us a chuckle sometimes. I think the creators of this twitter account are doing a really good job with it, and that they should definitely keep it going. If you would like to check them out, follow them at @factbook

Today we were asked to look at some facebook pages, much like the twitter blog, and analyls it. The blog that I had pick was mcdonalds. The reason that I picked this site was because it is a well known world wide chain, and everyone can relate to it.

What I like from the McDonald page is that it’s not to fancy, it’s just plain and simply, easy to read, you can see when people mention the business on their site, plus what they have to say about it. The main thing that I can easily pick out from this site is the thing that I find cool. Like ya you can see when and what people post about McDonald, but most of the comments on there are either rude, or dissing the business. Having that feature to the site gives the restaurant a bad reputation. For that alone I think I would change it. A few more things that I like about the site though is that they post when up coming events are, like deals and such. Another thing that I don’t like though is that they don’t really connect with anyone else, it is basically just them, like they don’t mention anything about like people doing something for McDonald’s. So that I think they should improve on, but if you put past all of the bad negativity and look at the good, the site is well maintained and over all really organized. If you want to check them out, look them up of Facebook at (McDonald’s)

In class today we were asked two simple questions on how important it is to keep a good reputaion, and the steps that we would take in order to do so.

The first thing is that I would love to have respect towards my blogs, and not to get a bad rep on any level if it was brodcasted to the world, or to a small community. I would do all in my power to maintain my reputaion in anyway that is needed neccesary

The first step that I would take is to keep race out from anything that I would ever post. People can take a huge affence to the colour or there skin, or to the way they look. The next step that I would take upon myself would be to keep my blogs in a respectful, but power messages to do with whatever I am talking about. I would never call someone out in any shape or form. Last but not lest I would be true. I would always allow my blogging to come from me, and not from another source that I didn’t write.

Today we were given a task to look at a variety of blogs, and pick out what they extremely good towards putting the website together and to attract the viewers eyes, and also to pick out what they could have done better with it.

The blog that I have chosen is Photography, I chose this because I myself is photographer and might want to pursue it someday in my future. To start off, the site has tons of great pictures, very eye-catching. Second thing that I noticed was the captions right beside each individual picture. That alone keeps them organized, and with less confusion when looking upon the photographs.

When I first looked at this site, I had scrolled through the site by just looking at the pictures at first, and just looking at the different scenery, different object, and the just plain and simply variety. With that, it make me want to read each picture to see what the true meaning for this picture are. I quite like the way they portray this site. There are very few things that I would change on it.

There are two things that I had pick out though.

1: I wish they had placed a black background instead of a white back splash, I think it would have made it pop more.

2: Some of the pictures are extremely small, I wish they had made them just a little bit bigger so you could actually see what the picture is instead of having to click on it.

Besides those two changes that I would make on this site, I think they had done a very good job. If you would like to check them out, you can follow them at (http://en.wordpress.com/tag/photography/)

In class we were asked a question about how social media has made an impact on everyday media.

I think it has made a huge impact, as it is changing the way people think, the way people look at things, and how people do things. For instance, people choose to look at news on the internet for one of two reasons:

It’s easily accessible, and displayed in countless places.

It’s cheap. People don’t want to go out and buy a two dollar newspaper when they can easily sit in a computer chair and get the exact same news for free, and with only minimal effort.

People have also turned to new media with the accessibility of their mobile devices. Everyone these days has a cell phone (about 91% of people in America own one.*) Therefore, with the use of cell phones, and being able to log-in into Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites, why turn back to the use of newspapers, and basically, the old fashion way?

I believe that social media has a huge impact on traditional media. I think as time passes, it will overwhelm the newspaper stands, and social media will eventually just completely take over.

*Retrieved from (http://arstechnica.com/telecom/news/2010/03/wireless-survey-91-of-americans-have-cell-phones.ars)
